    Description

    Built in 1682 under the direction of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the Salon de l’Abundance provided access to the former cabinet of medals, also known as “rarities”, where Louis XIV kept his precious objects (this room is today the Games lounge). The ceiling, painted with a single tenant in trompe l’oeil by René-Antoine Houasse, presents on the cornice the most beautiful pieces that made up the king’s collection. Some of these objects are today on display in the Apollon gallery at the Louvre.
